Again the performance will suffer especially in the mid range & on quick throttle up. If you really want to try something CCP wise try the gray 61368366623 CCP (or just jumpering pins 30/86/87) as that forces the low octane fueling map. Unlike the earlier BMW 1100 engines there is no open loop map in the 1150 Ma 2.4 fueling computer so simply removing the CCP won’t get you an open loop (re richer) fueling map. Won’ hurt to try it but no CCP in the 1150 forces a pretty lethargic spark map in the mid & upper mid range. You CAN run that 1150 without a CCP but that won’t change the basic closed loop fueling (the operation when in closed loop). That will re-set & re-teach the TPS (throttle position sensor) to know the upper & lower limit threshold. To do that- first remove the Motronic fuse for about 30 seconds, then re-install the fuse, then turn the key on (do not start), then FULLY open & close the throttle twice (make sure choke is off), then start & ride off as normal. If at or above the max then suspect carbon build-up.Īlso make sure you try a TPS re-learn before doing much with the ign timing – Personally I would run a hot compression check (throttle held wide open) to see what your base compression is. It’s possible your compression is a bit high from carbon build up. Maybe ride that way for a while using some combustion chamber cleaner (or ride the heck out of it). If the gray 61368366623 CCP (or jumpering pins 30/86/87) takes away your throttle-up knock then you know for sure your problem is early spark for your gasoline choice & engine condition. If the CCP is correct for your motorcycle maybe try the gray CCP (or just jumper pins 30/86/87 together) as that will put the Motronic in the low octane fuel mode. Personally I would start by verifying it has the correct CCP in the fuse box (that can effect the dynamic spark curve). Make sure you mark both the movable plate & the housing so you can put it back if you ever want to. Maybe start by retarding it about 1/16” then see what you get. You can set it back or forward by just marking the HES plate then moving it a bit (move in engine running directing to retard it). Yuses dynamic ignition timing so it is difficult to set it statically & know where it will go dynamically (running). Maybe start by verifying the lower plugs are not oil fouled & that you actually have spark down there. The upper stick coils being lazy or inop will usually give you a poor running engine but the lowers not working can cause spark knocking on throttle up as the spark curve was increased a bit when BMW went to the lower spark plugs as they promote better fringe combustion.
